Apparition

Shards of glass flying all around,
The deafening sound
Beauty I view as darkness befalls me.
My body chills, and stills.

How did I make it out alive?
Is she alright? 1 month to go,
She has to make it.
My first, our first can’t go this way.

Flashing lights and sounds
Jaws of life at work
Out she comes without scratch
Oh thank you God

Tears streaming down her face as I race to her side
No response to me, only the police
As she cries I see her eyes,
Alone, afraid, without me.

Body bag on the scene,
But for whom could it be?
Everyone is fine, made it out alive.

Oh God no, please don’t let this be.
This bag is not meant for me.
A wife, a kid, they need me.
Through the tears I see
What can no longer be called me.

God I make this my prayer
Let me live, let me see,
Let me honor thee.
I give you my life,
Dedicated to you,
Please let me love my wife and see my baby girl.

She looks as if she’s seen a ghost
When I step from that bodybag
She wonders how a ghost can touch and feel

Deliverance

Middle of the war, two of us all alone
Neither commander nor troops aware
The one I serve says to me, “Let us go to these men, perhaps the Lord will work for us, nothing hinders the Lord from saving by many or by few.”
“Do all that is in your heart, I am with you heart and soul”
Is my reply.

Waiting for a sign from our Lord at the foot of the foe.
“Come up to us and we will show you a thing!” is their cry.
The Lord has delivered them into our hands.
Fatal blows one by one
First by Jonathan, then I
Into the hands of Israel they have fallen.

The king’s men come in after.
Victorious we emerge, thanks be to the God of Israel!

Fight for the heart of your king!
Not Saul nor David but the one who reigns in heaven.
The one who wins battles
Against the odds, he reigns.
Victorious He is, victorious He will ever be.

Looking Forward

V. 1
Who was I? Who am I?
A question pondered in endless time.
If the stars fall from the sky
My hope is a burning ember I become.

Cant stand this endless me,
This sinful me.
One more hit, one more whip.
The pain caused by my mistake.

Chorus
Leave this place behind,
A forgotten moment in time.
Many have fallen, man is who I am.
I leave behind all that hinders
I have given up the ghost,
For it only gets in the way.
Seventy second chances are what I need
I know they are here for me.

V. 2
Through the hurt and the pain
You were there for me.
Pushing me to be a better me.
Like the one I adore with my tongue
But not with all of me.

Chorus
Leave this place behind,
A forgotten moment in time.
Many have fallen, man is who I am.
I leave behind all that hinders
I have given up the ghost,
For it only gets in the way.
Seventy second chances are what I need
I know they are here for me.

Bridge
Change is here, I feel You are near.
Lord your heart is what I need.
The past was then, this is now
Running forward toward your perfect ness,
Not towards the apparition of who I was.
A ghost I linger in the past,
Never to return to what I was
But to strive towards heaven above.
