Dressed to Kill

The church stands with steeple cast high in the sky, cross reaching out to the heavens. The worn brick shows signs of age and the many years past. The day is bright and sunny, perfect for a ceremony. The interior of the church is decorated its finest with floral covering the stage and walls. The stained glass windows cast a beautiful light onto the people seated in the pews dressed in their finest clothes.

Everyone is there that should be. Aunts, parents, friends, grandparents, children, and cousins. All of whom are dressed to kill. They mingle with one another waiting for the ceremony to start, making small talk and discussing the past. Tears roll down the faces of some while loving smiles cover others.

The preacher comes up and gives a speech while a few others close to the beloved couple say a few things. More tears are shed as the ceremony goes on.

The group proceeds outside the church for the second half of the service. A few dont attend this part but the majority make it. The sun continues to shine down making the weather glorious. A lite breeze is blowing the dresses of some of the woman and causing others to hold their hats on their heads. Men and woman holding hands and embracing each other.

The ceremony comes to an end with a prayer, "Father, they will be missed."

Trust

Trust is such a hard issue to tackle sometimes. To trust what someone has told you and that in all circumstances God is with you can be tough. Your own preconcieved notions seem to get in the way of those you love. The love of your life can tell you something but you let your ideas of what you "know" will happen stop you from trusting their word. Even if something bad happens when you finally do trust that person you must always KNOW that the Lord is right by your side, walking through it with you and always loving towards you.

Find your satisfaction and joy in God and all the pain will seem miniscule compared to his saving grace and love.

The Ocean

To sail across the ocean and traverse its depths. Batten down the hatches, a storm aproaches. Cling to the wood, hit your knees and pray. Capsize ahead, dont look down, wall of water over your head. The sun won't shine, not this night, this storm endures. Cargo is lost at sea, as were we.

Sun baked faced, gritty sand, fighting for our life again. We made through the storm, tried and naked, now the rest begins. Life started new, started from scratch. Our life is here, on this lifeless place. We grow, we build, we become one.

It was hard, it was tough, I wouldn't change a thing.

do you ever have one of those days where as soon as you get out of bed, things be seem to go wrong? Today was one of those. It was easy to just be tired and say life sucks but just a few minutes ago something hit me. I looked at my profile picture here and blogger and saw the big smile on all three faces and just thought of how happy I was in those times and no matter what I have a savior and a family who love me, no matter how mad people get or how wrong things go. There is always something to look forward to. Life may presently suck but just endure it and the brighter days will come.

Sex Appeal

Modern day America, gotta love it. It is a land of opportunity, a melting pot, a land of wealth, a land of health (or so they say), and a land of Hollywood. Right now, I am sitting in my house watching ESPN and sex appeal is everywhere I turn, especially on a sports channel. Sex sells. That is one of the most true statements I have ever heard. Surfing the net, advertisements are filled with busty women looking at you telling you to click their link, muscular men without shirts on tell you to click on them. I saw a DirecTV commercial earlier with Beyonce Knowles dressed in whatever kinda of half-covering clothes she was wearing, dancing with swaying hips and shaking her top to make men want to subscribe to their programming.

Hollywood makes movies glorifying pornography, strip clubs, and sex with whoever will give it to you. The moral of some of the movies may turn out alright in the end, they person doesn't have an abortion or they decide to stay together as a family for their kid, but is this what teens need to be seeing? Trust me, as someone who has looked at pornography since 7th grade, I know how bad it is and how wrong it is. Kids are bombarded with trash constantly and as a result decide to start doing things they shouldn't. I don't care if your kid goes to church all the time or what not, pornography and masturbation are a HUGE temptation for most men and a lot of women as well.

I would like to say, whether you struggle with this or not, do something production to help keep it from our youth. Don't expose them to all the trash and things they don't need. I wonder why teen pregnancies are up? Why are STDs up? I don't know... maybe it has something to do with the things our kids view and look at. Watch out not only for yourself, but for others and your society.

Power On, Power Off

I was starting to write on here when these wicked bad storms kicked up and knocked our power out, it came back, it went away, it came back, it went away, but now i think it is back to stay.

I wasn't going to write much. Just something like don't waste the time you have with people because you never know how long it will last. Also, try not to screw up with that person, it will ruin the short time you already have with them. It can be a real killer on your day. I just have to say, don't sweat the small things and enjoy the time you have. Also, don't do stupid things to compromise anything. Think about things before you do/say them. I have had to learn this the hard way and it sucks; patience is VERY important as the old wise people say.

Back to storms, I love 'em. The are one of God's greatest displays of glory to me. His power is sheerly impressive. Anything man has made he can destroy. It is awesome. It is also amazing how he protects people in these magnificent displays of glory. Storms are glorious.
